王帅，英国帝国理工学院助理研究员。长期从事热带气旋动力学、区域气候耦合模式模拟以及气候服务研究工作。王帅博士在帝国理工学院物理系获得大气物理博士学位，曾任伦敦大学亚非学院环境管理部联合研究员，曾获中国家自然基金委青年科学家奖学金。
报告摘要：The low-level wind structure of tropical cyclones (TCs) are of crucial importance to the TC destructiveness at landfall. The TC low-level wind field can be characterised in terms of the intensity—conventionally measured as the near-surface maximum wind speed—and the size, which is a measure of the outward extension of relatively strong wind from the TC centre. Both the intensity and size are critical factors on the destructive potential of TCs. The first part of the talk will focus on the general evolution of intensity and size in TC lifecycles, and their impact on the total Integrated Kinetic Energy, a physically plausible proxy to the TC destructive potential. The second part of the talk will explain the role of tropical mid-level dry air in the continuous expansion of TC outer wind field.
